Exhibit Introduction:
The exhibit consists of a booth, a gravity well model, and a ball (coin).
Through simple model devices, the exhibits vividly show the situation of planets orbiting the sun in the gravitational field of the solar system, and stimulate the audience's interest in exploring the stars in the universe.
The booth is integrated with the gravity well model, featuring a small hole in the center of the platform. The curved surface is roughly funnel-shaped, with a high outer edge and a low middle, and the outer edge has a flange, simulating a gravity experiment on Earth. On the outside of the gravity well, there are two tracks in opposite directions. The positions, directions, and heights of these tracks are designed to ensure that coins can roll steadily on the surface of the gravity well for over 20 seconds before falling into the small hole. We have set up a collection box below the small hole to facilitate the retrieval of balls or coins by visitors or instructors after the event.
Operation Instructions:
When visitors participate, the coin or ball is placed on the inclined track. Under the action of gravity, the coin (ball) moves along the elliptical trajectory along the funnel-shaped surface with the center of the funnel as the focus and finally falls into the hole.
