The exhibit consists of an acrylic box, a dome, bells, small balls, and buttons. The bottom of the acrylic box is parabolic.
Pressing the "start" button on the platform sends the small ball from the bottom through a lifting device on the side to the top, then it rolls irregularly into a small hole in the transparent top, falling into the box. Upon hitting the parabolic surface at the bottom, it bounces into the dome and rings the bell (the focus of the parabolic surface), eventually rolling back to the exit through the central hole of the parabolic surface.
After multiple operations, you will notice that each time the small ball bounces into the dome and rings the bell, demonstrating the principle of parabolic focusing. The exhibit is equipped with a hidden reset mechanism to return the small ball to the top for the next use.
